USNA Maryland Parents Club, we have a lot to discuss in this edition of the Maryland Express!
Welcome Picnic Recap
On June 7th, we welcomed the incoming class of 2029 along with their families to Sandy Point State Park! What started out as a rainy day morphed into great conversation and a lot of new members to our community! Welcome to our new families!
We were joined by Another Link in the Chain (class of 1979), Calvin from the Naval Academy Minority Association (NAMA), Derric from USAA, several current Midshipmen, and volunteers from our current and alumni families. THANK YOU to everyone who came out and lent a hand!
Changes to the Board
Shannon Settle announced at the Welcome Picnic that she will be stepping down as President. After spending many years serving the Maryland Parents Club in many roles, and the last few as our President, she will be spending her Midshipman’s final year enjoying the time and experience with him. Shannon has also decided to go back to school full time!
Please join us in thanking Shannon for her many years of service and leadership to our amazing Maryland Parent’s Club! She will be missed (and expected at Tailgate still!)!
Stacie Dattoli will be stepping into the role of President, having served as Shannon’s Vice President for the past 2 years. Amy Szatanek will continue in her role as Secretary, and Thomas Beckwith will continue on in his role as Treasurer.
The Board is looking for a new Vice President to join us to keep everything running as smoothly as it has been. Time commitment is around 5-10 hours per month.
We are also seeking Junior Board members to shadow current members and be ready to take over as current members are due to cycle out at the end of school year. Junior VP and Junior Secretary are our two most vital needs. Time commitment is 5-8 hours per month.
If you are interested in any of these positions, please email us at [email protected] or contact Stacie directly at 724-757-3054.
I-Day Expo Help Needed
I-Day is right around the corner, June 26th! We still need 4 Volunteers to help out on the morning shift at the Expo at Hospital Point from 9:00am-1:00pm. You may split this time into two 2-hour blocks if it would be easier. Please sign up using the sign-up genius link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084FACA728A3FECF8-57220524-usna
Tailgate Trailer Fundraiser
We are currently at $2,773 raised toward our $5,000 trailer goal thanks to the efforts at our Welcome Picnic and some rousing speeches from Vince Dattoli and Leila True
Help us get to that final number and have our trailer onsite at our Tailgate spot (SPOT 34!) ALL season so we can maximize the amount of fun and minimize the amount of time spent driving back and forth to the storage unit!
